Hello, students. Welcome to S H Ho Wellness College.

In 2015, I was appointed to be the founding master of the College. My team has an Associate Master (Maggie Wong), three Residence Tutors (Zon, Kaela, Regina) and a Student Affairs Officer (Charmaine).

We believe learning should continue to happen beyond the classroom. Our team strives to create learning opportunities at every corner in the College. We hope our Wellnessians, after living here for some period of time, grow into a positive and responsible young adult.

Here are some ideas of what you should expect if you apply for S H Ho Wellness College.

First, you will learn how to be independent. No more pampering from parents and teachers. You are the sole person responsible for your own well-being. You will not be focusing only on study, but also handling different errands in your life. How to eat well? How to maintain room hygiene? How to manage time? How to expand social network? How to be self-disciplined? How to work with roommates? Just to name a few. You may or may not have definite answers to these questions. But thinking through them is already a good start. I encourage you to talk through these questions with your friends. And you will be on your way to maturity!

Second, you will learn to appreciate diversity. S H Ho Wellness College provides a communal environment for you to meet new friends coming from different majors and years of study. By participating different social events, such as the High Table and Council Chairman Bowl, you will learn how to collaborate with peers and understand more about yourself and your position in a community. You will discover new aspects of self, which sometimes can be unpleasant. But don’t worry, that’s life! The more diverse the community you live in the faster you will grow!

Last but not least, you will learn how to interact with people. In the Master’s Meal, you will be invited to exchange views on meaningful topics over some delicious cuisine. You will be able to socialize with peers and the College’s senior members. Living in the College gives you opportunity to meet your teachers outside the classroom. Their duty is to provide you life guidance and care, with an aim to nurture you to become a better person. Make friends not only with your peers but also your teachers. Your mind will discover new planets.

There are many other fantastic experiences I did not include in this welcome message. But the above three aspects of learning represent the core values that we hope to nurture in our residents. If you have similar vision in your mind, join now to become a Wellnessian!
